2023-2024 Scholarship Information

This year, we are pleased to offer 30 scholarships totaling $53,500.00. Students can apply with one application.  Eligibility is determined based on information included in the application.

The 2023-2024 application opens on February 5, 2024. The deadline is March 1, 2024. Incomplete applications will not be considered.

General Eligibility

  • A currently enrolled Woodrow Senior graduating in May 2024.
  • Have a 2.6 unweighted GPA (on a 4.0 scale) or higher as of Fall 2023.
  • Plan to enroll full-time during Fall 2024 as a student in an accredited college or university
  • Submit a completed application by the deadline, including a FASFA Student Aid Index* and 2 recommendations (1 academic and 1 non-academic).

Required Supporting Materials to your Application

Please be prepared to include the following information and documentation with your application.

Recommendation Forms – action required

Complete applications include two recommendations – one from someone who can speak to your story of academic achievement (academic recommendation) and one from someone like a coach or advisor or workplace boss who can speak to your character and work ethic (non-academic recommendation).

Share the link to this recommendation form – with your recommenders. The deadline for complete recommendations is March 1, 2024. If a recommender has previously written you a letter, they can attach it to this form.

FASFA – action required*

Please include a copy or screenshot of your Student Aid Index (SAI) from your 2024-2025 FASFA application with your application. To be complete, this copy or screenshot needs to display your name along with the SAI amount. We will also accept the TAFSA.

Many, but not all, scholarships consider financial need as a factor. If you choose not to submit your FAFSA EFC page or TAFSA, the committee will be unable to evaluate your application for need-based awards.

*We understand that many students are currently experiencing delays in the processing of their FAFSA Student Aid Index Number. If you have not received your SAI, please use the financial aid questions in the application to clarify that you are waiting to receive this documentation. You may also use this part of the application to provide any additional context regarding your current financial situation that you would like the reviewers to consider. When you do receive your SAI, please email it directly to us at contact@woodrowfoundation.org. Applications missing a FAFSA SAI will not be disqualified from consideration.

Transcript

After you submit your application, the scholarship committee will request a copy of your most recent transcript from the college advisors at Woodrow.  The transcript will be reviewed as part of your application package.  You do not need to upload a copy of the transcript yourself.

What happens after I submit?

A committee of community volunteers will review your materials and rate on verifiability of information and evidence of achievement.

Award winners will be notified on Monday, April 15, 2024. Winners must accept the award by Friday, April 19th, 2024.

Award recipients will be asked to share a brief acceptance speech at our annual scholarships award ceremony, tentatively scheduled for Wednesday, May 8, 2024.

Award recipients will request distribution of funds once enrolled in classes for Fall 2024. Payment will be made directly to that school and is to be applied to qualified expenses, including undergraduate tuition, fees, books, and on-campus room and board for the following academic year.
